What is something people don’t know about you?
I am a certified Kansas City Barbecue Society judge and have the opportunity to judge some of the best competition BBQ in the world. The KCBS judges four categories: Chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket . . . (hungry yet?) I’m also a stamp collector and have been collecting stamps since I was about 10 years old. I have a large collection that I will be able to pass down to my children.
Where are some of the places you have visited?
In 2005 I have the privilege of visiting Israel. That has to be my most memorable trip. The Bible comes alive when you stand on the actual sites mentioned in the Scriptures. Taking a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, visiting Jerusalem, and seeing the ruins helped me understand the Scriptures better and now I have a mental image of those places. Inside the USA, I love traveling with my family. We love the beach and the mountains but there is no better place to be than at Disney World.
What is your ritual for a college football weekend?
Well if the Tide is playing . . . Get up early, put on the Crimson Tide shirt, pants and socks. Fix breakfast (toast with Crimson Jelly), make a gallon of fresh sweet tea color it with Crimson food coloring. Then make everyone start chanting Roll Tide every 3 minutes to prepare ourselves for GAME TIME. Five minutes before the game starts, I send the wife shopping and the kids outside. During the game, its boiled peanuts and screaming at the TV. After the game, it’s celebrating another Tide victory. If the Tide does not play I go shopping with the wife.
What are your greatest fears?
That one’s EASY:
1. Spiders (they are of the devil)
2. Storms (Me no likey tornadoes)
3. Heights (God made me short for a reason)
4. My Wife (self-explanatory)

Have you met any famous people?
Being in the Youth Ministry I get the opportunity to go to some great conferences. My favorite conference is when I volunteered for the Youth Specialties National Youth Pastors Conference. I got to go backstage because I had the “All Access” pass. I got to meet and talk with David Crowder, Rob Bell, Toby Mac, Louie Giglio, Doug Fields, and a few other people. At Catalyst I got to meet with Frances Chan, Rick Warren, Erwin McManus, and Craig Groschel. Of course, I remember them but I am sure they don't remember me.
What is your most memorable mission trip?
My most memorable mission trip has to be the first trip we took to Felicity, Ohio. That is the trip I got a tarantula thrown in my face. I still have nightmares...... On a spiritual level it had to be last years trip to Felicity. We saw 14 children come to know Christ and I got to see the lives of the teens who went changed forever.
